Depending on which BMW X3 trim you choose, your X3 will be powered by one of two BMW X3 engines: a 2.0L inline-four or a 3.0L inline-six engine. However, while the same 3.0L inline-six engine is used in the X3 M40i and X3 M, the latter is engineered to squeeze even more out of it than the former, resulting in markedly improved performance.
